(S11) Hodgkin Lymphoma: New Approaches and Old Toxicities

Saturday, May 17, 2008: 11:15 AM-1:15 PM
The Duke Energy Center
Although the cure rates for pediatric Hodgkin’s lymphoma are among the highest in all of oncology, the burden of relapsed/refractory disease and late toxicities of past and current therapies remain significant problems in the field. Current and proposed risk-adapted therapies show promise for maintaining high rates of cure and decreasing late effects. New therapies including cytotoxic agents and targeted biologic agents and immunotherapy approaches offer the possibility of improving cure rates for the relapsed and refractory patients and will have different longterm toxicity profiles. The purpose of this symposium is to review the current state-of-the-art in the therapy of pediatric Hodgkin’s lymphoma, diagnosis and management of the late effects of past and current therapies, and to highlight some of the newer therapies that are entering Phase I and II trials.
