W03 YI Workshop

One session will be an interactive experience of scientific writing and publishing from the point of view of authors, readers, and editors. The nuts and bolts of manuscript preparation, writing, submission, the trauma of reviews and resubmission along with the ethics of scientific and clinical investigation will be integrated into this session. A second session will discuss approaches toward career development in clinical research in pediatric hematology. Emphasis will be place upon currcula and training experiences that can equip trainess with the skill set necessary for a successful career in clinical research. A third session will address challenges in professionalism unique to the specialty. Some of these challenges will be re-experienced via real life vignettes on topics of litigation, working with families experiencing loss, interacting with colleagues, creative leadership and teaching, and balancing personal and professional obligations.
