Indigo Ballroom DH (Hilton San Diego Bayfront)
The opening talk will provide a historical analysis of AML therapy and how previous treatments have lead to current therapeutic strategies. Morphologic, cytogenetic, flow cytometric as well as molecular studies which have led to clinically relevant prognostic factors and risk groups will be discussed.
The second presentation will address the use of small molecule FLT3 inhibitors in ongoing clinical trials. Current research will be presented demonstrating the ability of FLT3 inhibitors to selectively kill myeloid leukemias as well as provide strong synergy with chemotherapy.
The final session will explore novel experimental approaches that can be applied to the discovery of new targets and therapies for patients with AML.
