This symposium will update and highlight important knowledge in the field of pediatric palliative care. Dr. Wolfe will discuss definitions and models of pediatric palliative care with emphasis on the establishment of multidisciplinary pediatric palliative care programs. Dr. Friedrichsdorf will focus on the management of pain and distressing symptoms in pediatric end-of-life care utilizing pharmacological and integrative therapies. Dr Friebert will discuss the importance of educating the future generation of palliative care specialists and how this is best approached and accomplished.
