Practice Management Issues in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

Saturday, April 25, 2009: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
204B (Hilton San Diego Bayfront)
Pediatric hematology/oncology practices face many challenges including caring for very sick children, providing high risk treatments and managing the many psychosocial needs of these patients and their families. In addition, such practices also typically have educational and research missions. Much of the care these families require is either inadequately compensated or uncompensated. This day long symposium will include sessions aimed to help both physicians and administrators identify ways to collaborate on how pediatric hematology/oncology practices can remain successful. Topics will include billing for services provided, analytic tools, technology selection and implementation and sources of non-clinical revenue. Strategies to reduce medical errors and improve patient safety will also be discussed. It is hoped that a process through which participants in this session can continue to dialogue regarding such issues will be identified.
